Media as a vehicle of youth voice

In between 5-15 October 2007, “Youth and Regional Development” Association, will organize in Targu-Jiu, the project: “Media as a vehicle of youth voice” which is a youth exchange having as topic mass media as a tool for better youth projects. The project “Media as a vehicle of youth voice” is financed by the Youth in Action Programme of the European Commission and has partners from 4 countries.

Project summary:
Youth workers face the problem of how to develop new ways of working with young people; thus, media and audiovisual knowledge turned out to be the right way for increasing quality and attractiveness of youth work and for providing interesting, various and easy tools to work with.
The participants will be trained by media experts both to use the media equipement but more important than that, how to use mass - media in youth work to obtain engagemant and participation; and through discussions, workshops, they will get useful knowledge and experience how to best value it in practice.
Nowadays, media and audiovisual tools are used in both formal and non-formal education, attracting broad sections of society and looking particulary to young people who find in it an opportunity to meet each other and for self-expression. These tools spontaneously attract their curiousity and can gather larger young groups, promoting the human interactions and helping educators and trainers to deal with sensitive themes. This is also the sense of our project, to bring together people from different countries and cultures but with the same interest of increasing the quality of youth projects through mass-media and media techniques, to share experience, working methods and ideas, build up new partnerships followed by creating new youth projects.
