Selection participants for youth exchange in Slovakia
YRDA (Youth and Regional Development Association) announces the selection of participants for the youth exchange: “UNITY IN DIVERSITY”, which will take place between 2 and 8 October 2006, Nitra, Slovakia.

In this project will participate 60 youngsters from 15 countries.

Details:
Nowadays, European union consits of 25 member countries. There are many other candidate countries willing to join the Community. The fulfilment of the Idea of Common Europe is closer than it has ever been. Different nations in Europe cooperate in order to establish constant peace in the area. Due to this fact, in the future European union will play an important role at the international level. Member states of the EU will be capable to take their responsibility for the peace development in other parts of the world. Everybody should participate in this process. Young people play a great role in this action. We should encourage their participation in the social life of the whole society. This youth exchange is a place, where young people coming from many European countries have the possibility to meet each other, to share their own culture, ideas and opinions. They will participate in different intercultural activities in order to learn in a nonformal way how to understand each other, to be tolerant and to build new contacts. In this way, young people will be able to fight against racism and xenophoby. As a result of the youth exchange young people will better understand each other, will be open-minded and prepared to live in a common Europe. These ideas will be spread in their local communities and influence another young people.

GENERAL INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS:
THE INITIATOR OF THE PROJECT – ICM NITRA:
ICM Nitra (Information youth centre) is a specialized institution which aim is providing information and counselling for young people from different areas of their lives, assuring the professional and occupational counselling for young people, etc. All this information and help is provided free of charge by the ICM. The umbrella organization of the ICMs is the Association of Youth Information and Counselling centres in the Slovak Republic. Nowadays there are 18 Information Youth Centres in Slovakia, which have been significantly changed, in recent time. This changes have led to improvement of the procedures and to uniformity of provided services for a young man.

THE ACTIVITIES
This youth exchange will focus on the development of activities related to the theme of the project and also its objectives. It will therefore include:
- workshops organised in order to facilitate the exchange of ideas and experience of participants
- information sessions
- intercultural activities (intercultural evening…) focused on the presentation of various elements representing the culture of groups participating in the exchange.
- informal activities and visits in the Nitra region because it is important that participants get in touch with the local natural and cultural heritage.

English will be the working language of the exchange.

ACCOMMODATION AND FOOD
During the whole period of the youth exchange, we will provide participants with full board and lodging in a hostel in Nitra. The first meal provided will be the dinner on the evening of the 2nd of October. There will be three meals per day and coffee breaks as well. There will be vegetarian meals available, too. If you are a vegetarian or have other special food requirements, please bring this to our attention (if you have not done it already).

HOW TO ARRIVE IN NITRA
The nearest airports are Bratislava and Vienna.
There will be 3 arrival points: Vienna Airport, Bratislava Airport and Bratislava Bus Station.

WHAT TO BRING ALONG
For this exchange you will need to bring:
Some kind of ID, receipts, invoices, tickets, traditional food and drinks, music for the intercultural evening, presentation materials, clothes (see the weather forecast)…
last, but definitely not least: enthusiasm, ideas…
